As many named libraries as you like, the way a music player does playlists. Make one in a click and name it in place. A book lives on exactly one shelf, so moving it is the whole operation — there is no copy to keep in sync.
Delete a shelf and its books are not deleted with it: they go back to your default library. Nothing you have read can be lost by tidying up.

Ratings
Score the plot, the characters, the ending and the writing separately, in half-stars. Each one is optional, and the average only counts what you actually rated — so a book with a magnificent ending and a slow middle reads as exactly that.

Progress
Type a page number and the percentage follows. Reach the last page and the book marks itself read and dates itself. Go back a hundred pages and it reopens — no book can sit at “read” while it is forty per cent finished.
Set a book down for good and “did not finish” is a real answer, not a gap. It keeps its page and its dates.

Daylight and midnight
Daylight is marbled endpaper — pastel lilac with a violet doing the accent’s work. Midnight is the cloth it is bound in: aubergine all the way down, so the accent sits in the room instead of being stuck onto it. Try the switch; the whole page follows, and so does the app.

Pricing
Most trackers hand you the dashboard and then take it away at £5 a month. Yours stays where it is. Pro buys more room and more of your own character — never access to what you have already recorded.

Every new account starts on Pro for 14 days, no card asked for. When it ends nothing is deleted: any extra shelves keep the books already on them, stay readable, and stay searchable — they simply stop taking new ones until you upgrade, and you can always move a book back to your main shelf or remove a shelf you no longer want. Cancel whenever; your library and its whole history stay yours, and stay exportable.

In your account, and nowhere else. Every book, rating, note and date comes back out as CSV or JSON whenever you ask for it — on the free tier exactly as on Pro, because data you cannot take with you is not really yours. Delete the account and the books, shelves, tags and ratings go with it in full, rather than being hidden and kept. No advertising, and your reading is never sold, shared or used to train anything.
No. Search by title, author or ISBN and the cover, page count, year and publisher fill themselves in — and the book lands already filed under tags like scifi or mythology. Anything the search misses, or an edition it does not have, you can still add by hand in about ten seconds.
Nothing disappears. Every new account gets 14 days of Pro without a card, and when they run out you drop to the free tier — which keeps the whole stats dashboard and the export. Extra shelves stay where they are, still readable and still searchable; they simply stop taking new books until you upgrade, and you can move a book back to your main shelf at any time.
“Did not finish” is a real status here, not a gap in the record. The book keeps the page you reached and the dates you read it, it still counts toward your pages read, and you can rate it — an abandoned book usually has the most to say about your taste.
